Technology overview

Concrete is no longer a black box.

Traditional concrete production relies on fixed curing schedules and conservative hold points. Karbonix uses live material signals to understand how concrete is developing inside the mould; enabling smarter decisions about curing, strength, demoulding and quality control.

One system with a multitude of applications across the construction industry

Residential Construction

High-volume modular housing needs speed, lower embodied carbon and predictable supply. Faster curing lifts panel output, lighter elements simplify transport and install, and low-carbon mixes help meet tightening residential carbon targets.

ChatGPT Image Jun 3, 2026, 08_35_21 PM.png

Data Centres & Warehouses

Large-footprint builds involve enormous volumes of concrete on tight programs. Ultra-low-carbon mixes cut the embodied carbon that dominates these projects, while faster curing and high throughput keep aggressive construction schedules on track while keeping costs down.

ChatGPT Image Jun 3, 2026, 08_35_53 PM.png

Civil & Infrastructure Projects

Public infrastructure is built for long design lives and increasingly procured on low-carbon criteria. Durable, low-carbon concrete and non-corrosive reinforcement extend service life while helping projects meet government sustainability and embodied-carbon requirements.

Marine & Coastal Construction

Salt and chloride exposure corrode conventional steel reinforcement, driving costly repairs. Non-corrosive basalt reinforcement and dense, durable low-carbon mixes resist this attack, extending service life in seawalls, jetties, ports and other coastal structures.

Read · Predict · Control · Document

Live signals, faster decisions, traceable outcomes.

This is the canonical four-step loop behind every Karbonix-enabled production cycle.

Each step builds the dataset that improves the next batch.

Capture the signal

Sensors capture real-time signals linked to hydration and early-age concrete behaviour while the panel is still in the mould. The same sensors continue to record through demoulding and dispatch.

Translate to intelligence

Signal behaviour is translated into early-strength forecasts and demoulding readiness predictions. Time-based curing is replaced with evidence-based curing.

Predict

Optimise the cycle

Curing is optimised around target performance outcomes, mix variability and ambient conditions — instead of worst-case schedules.

Control

Generate the record

Production, QA, carbon and compliance data are captured automatically — so every batch is traceable, auditable and EPD-ready.

Product Stack

One stack. Four interconnected layers.

Each layer is useful on its own, but their integration is where Karbonix's competitive advantage compounds.

New deployments improve the dataset, calibration logic and factory-specific know-how behind the platform.

L1

Smart Materials

Low-carbon concrete, CO₂ mineralisation, lightweight systems, alternative binders and non-corrosive reinforcement; designed for durability, low embodied carbon and sensing-ready production.

L2

Control System

Sensing hardware paired with digitally controlled curing logic; designed to read how each mix is curing and adjust the cycle in place of a fixed schedule.

L3

Manufacturing Platform

Factory workflow, monitoring and decision support that bring curing, quality and throughput data together to keep the production line moving and optimised.

L4

QA / EPD Toolkit

Carbon accounting, quality evidence and standards-aligned reporting; turning each batch's data into EPD-ready records and the documentation projects need for compliance.

What the layers deliver.

Smart materials carry the embodied-carbon advantage and are designed to be electrically responsive for sensing compatibility. The control system reads what those materials are doing in real time. The manufacturing platform turns that into factory-floor decisions. The QA / EPD layer captures everything that just happened, in a form auditors and procurement teams can actually use.

The system is what makes the KBX system unique; not any single layer.

KBX System

Our advantage is integration.

Karbonix's unique positioning comes from combining materials, sensing, curing control, manufacturing workflow and traceability into one deployable system. Each deployment improves the dataset, calibration logic and factory-specific know-how behind the platform.

Better predictions every pour

Every pour adds to a calibration dataset that improves the next prediction — across mixes, moulds, ambient conditions and product types.

Vertical integration

Owning the path from material chemistry to QA record means we can guarantee outcomes that no single-layer competitor can match.

Materials platform

Beyond low-carbon concrete — a complete materials system.

The Karbonix materials platform combines low-carbon concrete, CO₂ mineralisation, lightweight design and alternative reinforcement into a cohesive system designed for commercial precast, modular and industrialised construction.

Low-carbon concrete & CO₂ mineralisation

Our patented lightweight concrete system introduces captured CO₂ into the manufacturing process in a controlled way. This helps create a refined lightweight structure. It also enables CO₂ to convert into stable mineral carbonate within the material; similar to naturally occurring limestone. Alternative low-carbon binder systems from industrial waste streams further reduce cement intensity andsupport mineralisation performance.

Our material is designed to permanently mineralise captured CO₂ within the concrete matrix as stable calcium carbonate, embedding carbon reduction directly into the mix. Combined with its lightweight structure, this helps reduce embodied carbon, material use, transport impacts and handling demands across each element produced.

Alternative Reinforcement Systems

Karbonix is developing alternative reinforcement options that reduce dependence on conventional steel rebar. Advanced composite reinforcement systems simplify installation without compromising structural integrity or specification confidence; supporting lighter concrete products with improved corrosion resistance, reduced mass and lower embodied carbon across the reinforcement system.

These systems are designed to work in combination with our lightweight concrete technology, enabling precast panels, modular elements and civil products to meet structural, fire and durability requirements while achieving further carbon and weight reductions, translating to savings in concrete volume, transport and installation costs.

Materials + intelligence

Smart materials designed for sensor compatibility.

The responsiveness of our concrete systems is engineered into the material itself. This means the sensing layer can monitor material behaviour in real time, while predictive models are calibrated to the specific chemistry and performance profile of each mix.

Materials, sensing and intelligence are designed as one integrated system.
